iOS Software Engineer

Anand Kumar

I build polished native iOS applications with clean architecture, strong performance, and thoughtful user experiences — from the data layer to the last pixel of the interface.

Projects

Selected work

iOS apps and an open-source Swift package I designed and built end to end — from architecture to App Store-ready polish.

Snimiq — search your photos by what's actually in them, with on-device OCR, Smart Tags, 100% on-device processing, and background indexing

Snimiq

Snimiq makes your photo library searchable by extracting text with on-device OCR and generating tags with Apple's Vision framework — with a privacy-first architecture that keeps every photo, tag, and search on your device.

  • OCR-powered searchEvery photo is scanned with the Vision framework on import, so users can search by any text that appears in the image — receipts, screenshots, documents, signs — not just filenames.
  • Vision-powered automatic taggingTags are generated automatically at import time using Vision, so the library stays organized without any manual effort from the user.
  • Privacy-first, on-device architecturePhoto processing, OCR, tagging, and indexing all run on-device. There's no backend, no user accounts, and no cloud storage — nothing is ever uploaded.

WhileHere

WhileHere is a universal iPhone and iPad app that reminds you to do things based on where you are, not when — with geofence-triggered reminders, multi-location task support, and radius-based triggers.

  • Geofence-triggered remindersReminders fire automatically the moment you arrive at a saved place — no need to check the app or set a time.
  • Multi-location & radius-based triggersA single task can be attached to multiple places at once, each with its own independently adjustable trigger radius.
  • Interactive map flowsAdd, move, and reprioritize location pins directly on the map when setting up or editing a task.

Q

QEngineKit

QEngineKit is an open-source persistent task queue for Swift (iOS/macOS/visionOS), built on SwiftData and Swift actors — crash-safe background jobs with capped concurrency, priority ordering, and exponential-backoff retries with jitter.

  • Crash-safe persistenceEvery job is persisted in SwiftData and execution state is rebuilt on launch, so work enqueued before a crash resumes after it.
  • Device-aware schedulingPer-kind constraints (network, unmetered, charging) gate tasks without consuming retry attempts, with live NWPathMonitor integration re-evaluating the queue on connectivity changes.
  • At-least-once delivery with crash recoveryInterrupted tasks are detected and re-queued on launch, with per-task timeouts raced via structured task groups, dedup keys, delayed execution, and cooperative cancellation.

Where I've worked

A timeline of engineering roles, focused on impact rather than task lists.

  1. Software Engineer · ARC Document Solutions India Pvt. Ltd

    Dec 2025 — Present
    • Developed and maintained production iOS features using Swift, UIKit, and Combine following MVVM and clean architecture principles.
    • Designed an offline-first architecture with a Core Data persistence layer as the UI's source of truth and background cloud synchronization via APIs, keeping state consistent across sessions and reducing network dependency.
    • Integrated RESTful APIs using URLSession and managed asynchronous data flow with Combine across networking, view models, and UI layers.
    • Enhanced an existing job queue system that persists offline requests and executes them with retry and requeue logic when connectivity is restored.
    • Improved accessibility across key flows to support ADA compliance, adding VoiceOver labels and traits and Dynamic Type support for scalable text.

  2. Software Engineering Intern · ARC Document Solutions India Pvt. Ltd

    May 2025 — Nov 2025
    • Built dynamic and reusable UI components using UIKit, Swift, and Auto Layout to improve consistency and user experience across the app.
    • Integrated backend APIs and handled JSON response mapping to display data.
    • Collaborated with senior developers to maintain smooth data flow between user input, backend services, and UI rendering.
    • Used Xcode and Git for feature development, debugging, and version control during iterative development cycles.
